Job Available | Communication Officer ELO – European Landowners’ Organization Belgium

The European Landowners Organization (ELO) (europeanlandowners.org) represents the interests of private landowners and land managers. As such it is actively involved in agriculture and environment policies among others organizing events linked to these core areas and participating in EU-funded projects to be at the forefront of rural and agricultural research.

To strengthen our team, ELO is looking for two f/m for Communication Officers to handle communication for some of our key projects. One is for a 6-month maternity cover contract, the other is open-ended.

Job Purpose

The Communication Officer works as part of the project(s) team(s) ensuring that communication tasks are delivered to the highest standards. 

Job Description

The positions are based in Brussels covering the following tasks:

  • Support the project(s) team(s) in various communication tasks on individual projects;
  • Produce high-quality written and visual content;
  • Social media monitoring;
  • Edit digital content, articles, and reports;
  • Events coordination;
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts with the partner, stakeholders, and media;
  • Secure a positive and professional image of ELO.

As part of the above duties, the position will require some travel, mostly in the EU.

Profile

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in positions related to communication;
  • Proven ability to design and deliver creative content (text, image, and video);
  • Proven ability to plan workloads, meet tight deadlines and handle multiple projects;
  • Strong understanding and experience with graphic design tools;
  • Strong understanding and experience in managing social media platforms.

Required skills and personal qualities

  • Native or full professional English, spoken and written;
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently;
  • Well-organized, practical, and able to prioritize intensive and varied workloads;
  • Be able to convey information convincingly and concisely and repackage complex content in an accessible format;
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.

Additional experience preferred

  • Experience in the fields of sustainability environment or agriculture;
  • Experience in EU-funded projects;
  • Experience in public relations;
  • Interest in photography, podcasts, and video editing.
