The Department of International Studies at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington is seeking a nine-month Visiting Assistant Professor in International Studies. This is a 2-year fixed-term appointment starting August 2023 through May 2025.

The Department seeks to hire a visiting assistant professor in International Studies who specializes in International Political Economy and focuses on an area that compliments existing offerings in the department, with a particular interest in development, public health, and/or the environment. Candidates with a regional focus on Latin America are especially welcome. The new faculty member will teach courses in his/her area of specialization along with introductory courses in international studies and an interdisciplinary research methods course. The position carries a teaching load of 12 contact hours per semester. Selected candidates will engage in departmental meetings and special project work to further the goals of the department. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Doctoral degree in International Studies, Global Studies, or International Relations at the time of employment. Candidates with a Doctorate in a related field will also be considered. Applicants who are ABD for the terminal degree may be considered depending on the expected completion date on or before August 2023.

The successful candidate for this position will be committed to exceptional teaching across introductory and upper-level undergraduate courses.
